AGE REQUIREMENT

You must be a minimum of 14 years old to volunteer at MD Anderson Cancer Center. At the Children’s Art Project, we have volunteers ranging in age from 15-90.

BENEFITS

One-time/Seasonal Volunteers: Children’s Art Project volunteers know that their efforts make life better for children with cancer. Without volunteers, the Children's Art Project could not continue to increase the resources that support the needs of pediatric cancer patients in the Children's Cancer Hospital at MD Anderson.  The programs funded by the Children's Art Project enrich their lives with normal childhood experiences and opportunities as they battle cancer.

Permanent Volunteers: Volunteers who have attended a volunteer orientation and have a permanent job assignment at the Children’s Art Project benefit in the following ways:

  • Free self-parking is provided in the FHB Garage for volunteers, Mon.-Fri., 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • Discount (10%) on Metro Bus Passes (available at the hospital cashier window).

  • Free annual flu shots, and tuberculosis screening.

  • Patient Family Library and Medical Research Library access.

  • Prescription discounts from the Central Pharmacy or Outpatient Pharmacy located in the Main Building.

  • Insurance Coverage for any reasonable and/or necessary expenses for medical care resulting from an injury in the course and scope of volunteer activities, and which is not covered by the volunteer’s own insurance, will be reimbursed up to the limit of the MD Anderson policy.  Additionally, the Department of Volunteer Services provides insurance for Personal Injury Liability covering occurrences arising out of the performance of volunteer duties.

  • Volunteer Voice; a publication about MD Anderson volunteers sent quarterly.

  • Cafeteria discounts - show your volunteer ID badge at time of purchase.

  • Houston Astros tickets on an as available basis.

  • Annual volunteer recognition events.

  • Free cancer screening following six months of volunteering.
Please call 713-745-2575 for more details.
